This project involved the repair and conversion of a formerly derelict Dairy building to provide a two bedroom dwelling. The elderly occupants required a comfortable, easily maintained and thermally efficient home designed to mitigate the symptoms of dementia.

Located on a scheduled ancient monument site and within the curtilage of a Grade II* listed building development was strictly controlled in size and appearance. The design made maximum use of the existing building to achieve an internal floor area of 130sq.m with a green oak frame extension providing a glazed garden room to complement the existing stone building.

The project was put forward by Mendip District Council for a Building Excellence Award and was the category winner for the best change of use of an existing building or conversion in 2016.
